JOHNSON Ruby S. Johnson, 97 years old went to be with our Lord February 28, 2010. She will be missed. Ruby was a lifelong educator. She taught elementary school and was a principal of Annie Morgan School in Jacksonville, Florida from 1945 - 1971. She then went to Brunswick, Georgia and taught another ten years in elementary education before retiring. Upon retiring she was friend and caregiver to her sisters, Clymene and Anna Maude and brother, Paul. She was a member of Altoona Baptist Church and served as Sunday School Director from 1981 until 2007. She is survived by her son, T. Frank Johnson, Grand Island, FL; 3 grandchildren, Terry Shelton, Houston, TX, Tim Johnson, Saluda, NC and Nancy Shannon, Spring, TX; 3 great grandchildren, Jack, Crystal, Steve; 1 great great granddaughter, Alden Quincey McCullough; nieces: Jeannie G. Phelps, Leesburg, FL, Marilyn Branan, Jonesboro, GA and Ruth Rinehart, Milwaukee, OR; nephew, Jerry Shockley, Montgomery, AL; nieces: Carol Lanier, Winter Haven, FL, Marion Bryant, Atlanta, GA; Carolyn Barnett, Billings, MT; and nephew: Edward Gates, Leesburg, FL. Ruby Johnson epitomizes the bible chapter Proverbs 21. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Bay Street Baptist Church with Pastor Bob Walker officiating. Interment will be private at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Beyers Funeral Home, Umatilla.
