White, Ruby Ellen Dehart Dec. 21, 1924 - Aug. 18, 2014 Ruby Ellen Dehart White, 89, of Englewood, Florida, died peacefully at her home on Monday, August 18. Mrs. White was born in Hiwassee, Virginia, the daughter of Ellis Randolph and Claudia (Dickerson) DeHart. She graduated from the University Of Virginia School Of Nursing in 1945 as a Registered Nurse and worked as an Army Cadet Nurse with WWII veterans. She practiced maternity nursing for many years at Doctor's Hospital in Washington DC and Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. She stayed in touch with nursing school friends and participated in alumni reunions yearly. Ellen married the late Donald Richard White of Berkeley, California in 1948. Mr. White died in 2009. They made their home in Silver Spring, Maryland, where they raised their four children. In later years, they enjoyed living half the year in Edgewater, Maryland, and half in Englewood, Florida. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother, Earl R. DeHart. She is survived by daughters, Cynthia Rohrbach (Steve) of Summertown, TN; Kathleen White (Jim Webster) of Brattleboro, VT; Carolyn White (Laurence Kruckman) of Mt. Horeb, WI; son Donald Richard White Jr. (Jennifer) of West Chester, OH; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She maintained close relationships with her large extended family and many friends all her life. She will be remembered for her outgoing spirit and sense of fun. She enjoyed bridge playing, reading, bowling, bicycling, and being outdoors. She was a member of the Republican Club of South Sarasota County and Women's Republican Club of Silver Spring, Maryland.
