RUBY AMBROSE GOTTWALD JOHNSON Ruby Ambrose Gottwald Johnson passed from this life into Glory Friday August 27th. She was born in Richmond VA Oct. 11, 1926. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband Russell Lee Gottwald who died in 1962, and her 2nd husband of 36 yrs. Ret. Major. Lee R. Johnson. Among her numerous talents, Ruby enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery & golfing which she fell in love with after moving to FL. in 1970. Recognizing her leadership skills, she was frequently asked to served on numerous committees of the various organizations to which she belonged: The Women's Benefit Association, Powhatan Hill Women's Club & The. American Red Cross . She was a member of several golf associations, including the Gator Trace Ladies Association in her later years and she was an active member of the PTA for 24 years! Until recent health problems prohibited, she enjoyed volunteering at Lawnwood Reginal Hospital as a pink lady where she loved making others smile.... Her sharp whit & humor, fondness for surprises as well as her stubbornness will be dearly missed by her children; Cooka Gottwald Shaw, her husband Jim of Williamsburg, VA, Russell Gottwald Jr. of Hampton, VA & Mary Gottwald Osteen, her husband Gary of FT. P FL, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brothers; Lloyd Bernard Ambrose, Laneview, VA, his wife Sadie, Dixie Ambrose Jr. of Amelia, VA, his wife her sister, Geraldine Ambrose French Selden of Sandston, VA as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ruby was a member of Westside Baptist Church & the Sunshine Sunday School Class. Memorial service to be held 11am Fri. at Westside with a fellowship gathering immediately following. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Ft. Pierce Hospice for their outstanding tender loving care! They were all heaven sent.!
