Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel for Roy Eugene Goodwin, 65, Hokes Bluff, who passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009. Gary McCurdy and Chance Goodwin will officiate. Burial will follow at Noble Hill Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Chapel is in charge.Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished his time with his family. He was an avid football fan, especially Alabama football. He enjoyed fishing and remodeling antique cars. Roy loved life and lived it to its fullest.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Poore and Jean Morris.He is survived by his wife, Joan Goodwin; son, Anthony (Tina) Goodwin; daughters, Jann (Woodrow) Brown, Amy (Joe) Mooney, Teresa (Ron) Dalton and Rachel (Mike) Patey; brother, James (Peggy) Goodwin; sister, Barbara Watts; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.Pallbearers will be Heath Goodwin, David Watts, Danny Joe Lewis, Shawn Davis, Bobby Davis, Elton Goodwin and Ty Hunt.Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Kevin Windsor, Dr. Tom Corley, Southern Care Hospice and all of his neighbors and friends.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to time of service today at the funeral home.
