Rosemary (Hackett) Madden-Smith, of Weymouth, passed away May 12, 2012. She was 90. Rosemary was a lifelong resident of Weymouth, working in the Weymouth Public School system for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening and quilting but her main passion was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Beloved wife of Edward M. Smith of Weymouth and the late Edward L. Madden. Devoted mother of Edward L. Madden of West Newbury, Joan M. Horner of Weymouth, Kevin J. Madden of Quincy, David M. Madden of Plymouth (former Mayor of Weymouth), Brian F. Madden of Pembroke, Laura J. Madden of Quincy and the late Shaun P. Madden. Loving sister of Gerald Hackett of FL, John Hackett of Sandwich and the later Walter and Frederick Hackett. Cherished Gramma of 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also survived by a loving extended family including 6 stepchildren and their families and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours were on Tuesday, May 15, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, North Weymouth at 40 Sea Street, (off Rte.3A-Bicknell Sq.) Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 11:30 a.m. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
