RONALD LEE DAVIS DYER, IN Ronald Lee Davis, age 75, of Dyer, passed away June 14, 2012 after seven weeks of hospice care at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Chicago Heights, IL. Ronald was married to Catherine Davis (Fygetakis) for 51 years. Since Ronald's illness, Catherine never left his side. He is survived by three children: Clifford Davis (Kim McCall), Daniel Davis (Brian Johnson), and Victoria Davis Parkinson (Thomas Parkinson); grandchildren: Tara Davis Helmuth (Adam Helmuth), Christina Davis, Tabitha Davis, Cameron Parkinson, and Courtney Parkinson; six great grandchildren. Ronald was born on June 20, 1936 in Toledo, OH. He received his first Masters degree in Education from the University of Toledo. He received his second Masters in Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary in Lancaster, PA. Ronald was ordained into the United Church of Christ in June of 1971. Since then, he has served numerous congregations in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and finally in his retirement, served as a part- time Pastor of Visitation at First United Methodist Church in Crown Point, IN. Ronald loved serving the church and touched so many lives. His family is so proud of the work he accomplished and his servitude to God. Ronald was known for his love of the arts, especially the opera. He was a connoisseur of desserts. Ronald never met a pie or cake he didn't like. A memorial service, which is open to the public, will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Crown Point, 352 S. Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307. Pastors Mark Wilkins and Beverly Biehr officiating. A small reception of cake and coffee will be held after the service.
