ANDERSON, Rodney - Passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2009 at the age of 68, surrounded by his caring family. Beloved husband for 50 years of Jane Anderson (nee Gage), and loving father of son Robert Anderson (Sherry), daughter Carol Poulin (Robert) and devoted grandfather of Bobby, Shaye, Blake and Taylor. Also survived by sisters Louise Mendola of Welland, Elaine Camden (Bob) of Port Colborne, Carol Piagno (Freno), Heather Booth (Mike Fishman), Tracy Bovine (Gary) and brother Donald (Marguerite Monforton) all of Welland. Predeceased by his parents Harry and Dorothy Anderson and his brothers-in-law Sam Mendola and Brian Booth. Mr. Anderson was an employee of Atlas Steels for 35 years, retiring in 1997. Rodney loved his “cottage life” spending much of his time hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 4 for 46 years. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 4, 383 Morningstar Ave., Welland on Saturday, September 12 at 1 p.m. Visitors will be received beginning at 12 p.m. At the family's request, donations in memory of Mr. Anderson may be made to the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation - Oncology Unit.
