ONEIDA - Roberta S. Mitchell, 73, of 236 Chappell St., died Saturday morning in the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she was a surgical patient for the past eight days. She was born May 22, 1939, in Albuquerque, N.M., a daughter of William and Georgia Lee DeZell. Mrs. Mitchell was a licensed practical nurse, and was retired from the Hazel Carpenter Home, in Oneida. She had attended the B.O.C.E.S nursing program and received her license in 1978. She was also formerly employed with the Oneida Ltd. factory store. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and Kevin Carrigan, of New Berry Springs, Calif., and Susan Kinney of Needles, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Wendy Kinney, of Munnsville; two sisters, Gladys Garrett, of Florida, and Mattie Garrett, of Utah; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the Coolican-McSweeney Funeral Home, 322 Washington Ave., Oneida, with the Rev. Brian Fellows, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Oneida. Friends are invited and may call on Friday from 12-2 p.m. preceding the service. A reception celebrating Roberta's life will follow the cemetery service, at the Oneida Owl's Nest on Vanderbilt Avenue, Oneida.
