Roberta H. Stevens, 91WOOLWICH - Roberta H. Stevens, 91, of Murphy's Corner Road, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, at her home.She was born in Woolwich on April 27, 1914, a daughter of Maurice T. and Florence Bailey Hathorne.She graduated from Morse High School, class of 1931, and Gorham Normal School, Class of 1933. She received a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1964.She taught in one-room schoolhouses in Woolwich and West Bath and grade 2 at North Primary School in Bath.She worked at Bath Iron Work in the accounting department during and immediately following World War II. She married Robert D. Stevens on October 4, 1952, in Woolwich.She returned to teaching in 1954 at Wiscasset Elementary Shool and then as grade 2 teacher at Fisher School in Bath from which she retired in 1974 after 17 years service.She assisted her husband managing Sea Acres Rental Cottages at Popham Beach for 46 years, operated Sea Acres Gift Shop for 21 years, and was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Robert D. Stevens Builder, for 25 years.She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crosstitching, and spending time with her grandchildren.She was a member of the National Education Association, Maine Education Association, United Church of Christ (Congregational) Bath, Brunswick Retired Teachers, Woolwich Historical Association, Phippsburg Historical Association, Popham Improvement Association, Popham Circle, and Midcoast Hospital Auxillary.She was predeceased by a brother, Raymond C. Hathorne.She survived by her husband of 52 years; a daughter, Rebecca S. and her husband Peter Wellman of Bennington, Vt.; and three grandchildren, Abigail Wellman of Williston, Vt., and Robert and Hannah Wellman of Bennington, Vt.There will be no visiting hours. A funeral will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25, at Popham Chapel at Popham Beach.
