Preacher Robert A. White, 81, of Morganton, N.C., went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 16, 2006. Born April 13, 1924, in Chase City, Va., he was a son of the late Walter and Mary Hoyle White. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Preacher White pastored several churches in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. His pastorates included Cove Creek Baptist in Pickens, S.C.Surviving are his wife, Stella, of the home; daughters, Terry Newton of Morganton, Kathy White of Asheville and Joan White of Spartanburg; and sons, David White of Easley, S.C., and Paul White of Greenville, S.C. One sister and a number grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at Trinity Baptist Church, Valdese, N.C. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the church, where the body will remain until the service. At other times the family will be at the residence on New Eastwood Circle.
