->Stephens, Robert T.Robert T. Stephens, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on August 31, 2012 at Sound Shore Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was 76.He was born on September 25, 1935 in White Plains, New York to the late Percy and Mary (Doherty) Stephens. He is survived by his adoring wife of 52 years, Alice (Clarke) Stephens, his five devoted children, Alyce Stephens, Anne (Chris) Jochum, Jane (Guy) Weckesser, Timothy (Tyson) Stephens and Neil Stephens, and his seven grandchildren, Matthew, Hayley, Christian, Grace, Molly, Ella and Jillian. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Fennell, and by his infant son, James.Bob Stephens was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains. After graduating high school, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1956. He also attended the Teterboro Academy of Aeronautics and the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where he majored in history.He was a decorated 20-year veteran of the New York City Police Department, retiring as a sergeant in the anti-crime unit of the 25th Precinct in East Harlem, NY. He was a member of the Sergeants Benevolent Association of the NYPD and the New Rochelle Irish Benevolent Society. Bob was an avid student of American and Irish history, a skilled carpenter and a dedicated gardener at the home he shared with his wife and family on Union Street in New Rochelle for the past five decades. He was never happier than when he proudly supervised his grandchildren's annual harvesting of his prized tomatoes in the late summer sun.Visitation will be held at Lloyd Maxcy Beauchamp Chapel, 16 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY, on Monday, September 3rd (6-9pm) and Tuesday, September 4th (2-4pm and 7-9pm). A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am on September 5th at Blessed Sacrament Church, 15 Shea Place, New Rochelle, NY.
