Robert Walter Sullivan, 76, of North Haven, died March 3, 2011.He was born Feb. 15, 1934, in New Haven, a son of the late Vincent J and Mary Sullivan. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Notre Dame High School. After graduating from Southern Connecticut State College he went on to become a teacher with the U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools, where he taught the children of service men and women stationed overseas. He enjoyed many assignments overseas including Germany, Cuba, Italy, South Korea and Japan. Bob was known for his love of the arts, particularly theater, directing and performing in many plays during his tenure.He is survived by his nieces and nephews, 12 great-nieces and great-nephews. Robert was predeceased by his sister, Catherine F. Sullivan, and brothers, Vincent, James and John Sullivan. A funeral Mass was celebrated March 9 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden. The Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, Hamden, was in charge of arrangements.Memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice Home Care, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
