SAMBORN, Robert Paul _ Bob passed away in St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit on Monday, August 9th, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 73 years. Surviving are his loving wife, Grace of 50 years; five sons, Dean, Mark, and Grant of Saskatoon; Ross (Verena) and their children Michaela, Lukas and Patrick of Calgary, AB; Craig (Shelley) and their children Alexandra, Ashton and Sophie of Cochrane, AB; one brother, Ernie (Stephanie) of Calgary, AB. He was predeceased by his mother, Petrunelia in 1994 and his father, Fred in 1999. Bob was born March 28th, 1931 in Cudworth, SK, moving to Saskatoon in 1935 where he was educated in Pleasant Hill School, Saskatoon Technical Collegiate, and the University of Saskatchewan. He worked for 36 years for Canadian General Electric. On June 5th, 1954 he married Grace Stevenson in Saskatoon. They enjoyed many summers camping with their sons, and have fond memories of the 21 years spent in their cottage at Memorial Lake. He adored his six grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Barry Dick and Palliative Home Care; Dr. Joseph Pfeifer; Dr. S. Chary and St. Paul's Palliative Care Unit for their excellent care during Bob's long illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Care Society (Box 23019, Saskatoon, SK S7J 5H3) or The Lutheran Hour (270 Lawrence Ave., Kitchener, ON N2M 1Y4) or St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit (1702 20th St. W, Saskatoon, SK S7M 9Z9). The Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 13th, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in Faith Lutheran Church (corner of Preston Ave. and Arlington Ave.) conducted by Rev. Robert Marshall and Rev. Howard Ulmer.
