ROBERT PAUL ANDERSON PORTAGE, IN Robert Paul Anderson, age 73, of Portage, IN formerly of East Chicago passed away on May 19, 2014. He was born on January 6, 1941 in East Chicago, IN to Harry C. and Catherine (Olson) Anderson, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Melinda (Robinson) Anderson of Portage; son, Bryan (Tricia) Anderson of Wheatfield; grandchildren, Kennedy and Olivia Anderson; sisters in law, brothers in law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Seals. Rob was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from ISPAT Inland Steel after working 43 years, he was known by his coworker's as "Hot Metal Andy". Rob was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hammond. He enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, spending time with family and vacationing in the northern woods of Wisconsin on Patten Lake. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN 46368, with Pastor Mark Hostetler officiating. Burial to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
