SCOTIA Robert Meyers Leith, 90, died February 4, 2004 at the Baptist Health Center in Scotia. He was born on August 21, 1913 in Schenectady, N.Y., the son of Alfred Robbins and Elizabeth Meyers Leith. Robert graduated from Scotia High School. He attended Union College, graduating in 1936 with a civil engineering degree. Robert was first employed by the Village of Scotia before starting his 37-year career with General Electric in the LM&G division. He was an avid outdoors person, spending a great deal of time hiking and camping in the Adirondack Mountains with family, friends and the Boy Scouts of America. He stayed active in scouting for over 60 years in various leadership roles. His personal patience and extensive outdoor knowledge helped many young campers enjoy nature to its fullest. He was a member of East Glenville Community Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothea Victory Leith; two sons, Robert S. Leith and wife Michelle of Schenectady, William S. Leith and wife Christine of Sedgwick, Maine; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John (Doc) Leith. Funeral services will be held Friday evening at 7 o'clock at the White Funeral Home in Scotia. Calling hours will precede the service from 5 to 7 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made to the Albany Association for the Blind.
