FOREST CITY, N.C. - Robert M. Jackson, 71, former Lansingburgh resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at Rutherford Regional Medical Center.Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Michael Jackson and Dorothy Sieth Jackson and husband of Betsy Hapgood Jackson of Forest City, N.C. They were married for 41 years.Raised and educated in Troy, he was a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked for Allied Bendix/Honeywell Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Veterans of Lansingburgh and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Forest City. Robert was an avid outdoorsman, who especially loved fishing. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who were a source of deep joy to him.Survivors in addition to his wife, Betsy, include two daughters Audra O'Connell (Sean) of Forest City, N.C., Dana Jackson of Albany; his son Todd Jackson (Jennifer) of Troy; four sisters Genevieve Godlewski of Georgia, Dorothy Hayes, Eleanor Womback both of Florida, Ruth Ann Cooper of Waterford; two brothers Michael Jackson, Edward Jackson both of Troy, five grandchildren Zeph Jackson, Ty Jackson, Sean O'Connell, Mayghan O'Connell, Braden O'Connell, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, corner of 109th Street and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh.Burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.To light a candle and offer words of condolences, please visit www.mcloughlinmason.com.
