Robert Lee Anderson Flat Rock, NC Robert (Rob) Lee Anderson, 72, of Flat Rock, NC, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011. He was born in Utica, NY, on March 31, 1939, to Rocelia and Wiley Anderson. Rob was a graduate of Holland Patent High School and Utica College. Soon after graduating from Utica College, Rob became a General Electric employee, starting out on their Manufacturing Manager Program. His last assignment was at the Hendersonville GE Lighting Facility from where Rob retired 12 years ago after 35 years of service. The love of his life was his family, and he enjoyed spending time with them and friends as often as he could. Rob traveled the world and would often combine bicycling, hiking and boating to best enjoy each location. Special interests of his were snow skiing, woodworking and music. He was an avid skier and looked forward to hitting the slopes each year. Nothing could bring a smile like hearing Rob play and sing his special rendition of Happy Birthday on his ukulele. He sang with the Kenmure Show Chorus and nightly would play one of his instruments before heading to sleep. Rob was very involved in his church, Grace Lutheran Church, where he also played drums in their contemporary worship band. Rob was a strong supporter and volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and led the recent "Building Blitz" for his church. Rob is survived by his brother, Wiley Anderson; son, David Anderson and daughter-in-law, Sandy; daughter, Janet Kim and son-in-law, Arrik; and five grandchildren, Graylin, Kelly, Tyler, Natalie and Lindsey, all who loved him with all their hearts. He also leaves behind his loving companion Sandy Kalinowski and his cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet (Jo) Anderson. Rob had a steadfast, kind and caring nature which will be missed by many. He enriched the lives of those who knew him. Micah 6:8 A Memorial Service will be held October 22, 2011, at 3:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville, NC. Interment will be planned for Spring 2012 in NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Ave. W, Hendersonville, NC 28739 or Habitat for Humanity, 1111 Keith St., Hendersonville, NC 28792.
