Robert L. "Bub" Harrington, 78, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2003, at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Louisville and US Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He retired in 1982 from the old Automatic Sprinkler Corporation. He was a member of Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 669 and the Shawnee American Legion Post 193. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lucille Harrington; a sister, Martha Coates; and a brother, William Harrington. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jane Bailey Harrington; two daughters and their husbands, Maureen and Dennis Potter of Columbus, IN, and Iris and Terry Goodman of Louisville; two sons and their wives, Pat and Mary Harrington of Clarksville, IN, and Artie and Leslie Harrington of Louisville; a sister, Evelyn Allen Martin; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2003, at Church of Our Lady, 3511 Rudd Ave. Burial will follow in Portland Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons-Portland, 2114 W. Market St.Previously published in The Courier-Journal
