Carter, Robert L., 80, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Crystal Lake, Greenfield Twp., PA, passed away at home in Fort Lauderdale on Monday, March 10, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born in Scranton, PA, graduated from Scranton Central High School, class of 1945, Pennsylvania State University, class of 1949, member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He held the rank of Sergeant First Class in the US Army and served from 1950 to 1953. He was Founder and Board Chairman of-& R Wire, Inc. and Penn Shadecrafters, Inc., (Manufacturers of Fine Lampshades) Scranton, PA and Board Chairman of Nelson Lebo, Inc., Trenton, NJ (Makers of Distinctive Porcelain Lamps). He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Maday Carter; 3 children, Clifford A. Carter, Cynthia Carter Alston (spouse Gary), R. Stephen Carter (spouse Catherine); 2 grandchildren, Martha G. Carter, Kyle M. Carter; a sister, Winifred Doud (spouse Harold) and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale, 401 Southeast Fifteenth Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, at 11 AM on Friday, March 14, 2008.
