Robert Johnson March 23, 1933 - January 14, 2009 NORWICH - Robert L. Johnson, 75, of 625 East Main St. died early Wednesday morning at the Backus Hospital. He was born in New London on March 23, 1933 son of the late Edward and Exzina (Bondville) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was currently employed as the Head Custodian at Kelly Middle School in Norwich. He was previously employed at Electric Boat for over 18 years as the supervisor of cranes, and he also worked at Robertson Paper Box in Montville as a supervisor. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion Robert D. Fletcher Post 4. Mr. Johnson was first married to Marilyn (DeWolfe) Johnson who died in 1977. He then married Caroline (Jencks) Johnson on July 7, 1987 who survives him. He is also survived by a son Walter L. Johnson of Niantic, two daughters: Robin Carpenter of Niantic and Deborah Soulia of Taftville, two sisters: Doris Simpson of Waterford and Mary Smith of New London; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister and five brothers. A memorial visitation will be held at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 So. B. St., in Taftville on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service with cremains at 11:30 at Maplewood Cemetery.
