ROBERT L. JOHNSON HIGHLAND/EAST CHICAGO, IN Robert L. "Butch" Johnson, age 82, of Highland, IN, formerly of East Chicago, IN, passed away Friday, December 14, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ellen (nee Clark) Johnson; four children: Robert Johnson of East Chicago, IN, Dave (Pat) Johnson of Munster, IN, Francine (Pete) Vukovich of Hammond, IN and Tim (Rose) Johnson of Munster, IN; seven grandchildren: Natalie (Jeff) Banaszak, David, Tim, Chad, Robert, Timothy and Johnathon; one sister, Marlene (Don) Ohman of Gary, IN; one brother-in- law, Noble (Joan) Clark of Crown Point, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN with Rev. Dennis Deeter officiating. Cremation to follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson retired from ECI - Sinclair of East Chicago with 37 years of service. He attended the Woodmar United Methodist Church of Hammond. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #369 of East Chicago who will post colors at 7:00 p.m. Monday. He was also a member of the VFW Post #802 of Hammond and a lifetime member of the Hammond Elks Lodge #485. Mr. Johnson was also an avid bowler with the Hammond Elks and was a lifelong resident of East Chicago, IN.
