Robert J. "Bob" Brennan, 92, died peacefully at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., on July 11, 2012, with Florence, his wife of 63 years, at his side. Visitation will be Saturday, July 14, from 1 to 3 p.m., at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, Ga. 30033, (404)292-1551. Bob was born on Oct. 7, 1919 in Jersey City, N.J. and was raised with his brother, Edward T. Brennan, Jr.,(who was killed in World War II) in Great Kills, Staten Island, N.Y. Bob was an athlete who lettered in football, baseball and basketball at Tottenville High School on Staten Island. Mr. Brennan served in World War II with the Army 111th Infantry in Pulo Ana and Pelielu, Palau, as a mine demolitions engineer. This service to his country came second only to his family on his list of life's most important things. Robert married Florence Ann O'Keeffe in 1949 in New Dorp, Staten Island. They had and raised their children in Colonia, N.J., Roselle, N.J., and Preston Park, Pa. During most of those years, Bob coached his kids and everyone else's in Little League Baseball. Mr. Brennan retired after 30 plus years from Western Electric in New Jersey. After his retirement with Florence to Preston Park, Pa., he remained an avid golfer, and played into his late eighties. Bob Brennan was, first and foremost, a family man. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enormous pride in family, and an impeccable work ethic, all of which are his legacy to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mr. Brennan is also survived by his children, Virginia Sheen and her husband, Jim, of Sandy Springs, Ga., Edward Brennan of Somerville, N.J., Robert Brennan and his wife, Virginia, Rankin Brennan of Decatur Ga., Mary Brennan and her husband, Joe Manhart, of Hillsborough, N.J., Patricia Blaettler and her husband, Joe, of Mendham, N.J., Michael Brennan of Toms River, N.J., Alice Brennan of Westerly, R.I., Martin Brennan and his wife, Toni Cook, of Decatur, Ga., and John Brennan and his wife, Karoline Rumps Brennan, of Tucker, Ga. Mr. Brennan leaves 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom he dearly loved and was extremely proud. He also leaves his beloved canine companion, "Joe the Dog."
