NEW -->Robert Hames NEW BRITAIN, CT-- Robert Hames, 69, of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Jerome Home. Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was son of the late Joseph Carlisle Hames and Nellie (Mabry) Hames. In 1985, Bob retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years service, having been stationed in Germany for 15 years. He graduated from SCSU and worked in Social Services, currently employed by Community Partners in Action, Hartford. He has lived in New Britain since 1995. Bob was an active member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, New Britain, he served on the Vestry as Chair of the Property Committee and as an Acolyte. Bob was the beloved husband of the Reverend Patricia (Robertson) Hames and father of Robert Hames of Orange and Julie Mehigan of Vienna, VA; father-in-law of Timothy Mehigan and much loved 'Grandad' of Ashley Hames of Clinton and Emma, Maeve and Gwendolyn Mehigan, of Virginia. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by an infant son, Jeffrey Hames. Bob is the youngest sibling of three surviving brothers; Carlisle Hames and his wife Betty of Spartanburg; Gary Hames and his wife Hazel of Inman, SC; and Johnny Hames and his wife Helen of Drayton, SC. He is survived by many other family members including Deanna Selby, Harry Titley and Peter and Jane Robertson, all in England. Bob and Pat enjoyed traveling and were blessed to have many friends around the world. Funeral services are 10:00 AM Saturday, May 17 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 147 West Main Street, New Britain, CT 06052. Burial will follow at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. Calling hours are 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 15 at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.
