WILLIAMS Robert H. Bob Williams, 76, of St. Augustine, FL, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 27, 2012. Bob was born on July 1, 1936, in Waycross, Ga. He graduated from Waycross H. S. in 1953 and the University of Georgia in 1969. He joined the U. S. Army in 1954 and served our country during the Korean War. After leaving UGA he went to work for the Florida DOC as a special investigator at the Florida State Prison in Raiford. It was during this time that Bob met Pat, his wife of 48 years. Bob and Pat moved to Jacksonville in 1971 when he began working for the JTA. He began his career in the paper industry with St. Regis Paper Co. in the 1970 s and retired in 2004, after serving many years as manager of corporate affairs with Smurfit Stone Container Corporation. Bob loved the Georgia Bulldogs and served as president of the Jacksonville Bulldog Club in 1983. He also loved the game of golf. When he could no longer play, he took up boating and enjoyed his time on the water. For years, Bob was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry. After moving to St. Augustine, Bob and his family found a new home at Trinity Episcopal Parish, where he was active in the Brotherhood of St. Andrew. In his last days, Bob found great comfort in the knowledge of Christ s love for him. Bob is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters: Wendy W. Berger (Larry) and Jeni W. Macomber (Brad); grandchildren: Griffin Berger, Georgia Berger, and Addyson Macomber; sisters: Jane McQuaig of Waycross, GA. (Charles) and Ann Godwin of Gainesville, FL; brothers: Bennie Williams of Savannah, GA. (Sue), Frank Williams of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. (Debra), and John Williams of Ocala, FL (Marty); sister-in-law; Beverly Williams of Fairhope, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack L. and Gladys Williams, and brothers, Mack L. Williams, Jr. and Richard Williams. A celebration of Bob s life will be held Friday, August 10th at 10:00 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Ministry or the Youth Ministry at Trinity Episcopal Parish, 215 St. George Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084 Craig Funeral Home is assisting the family.
