Johnson, Robert G. CLIFTON PARK Robert G. Johnson, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Schyler Ridge Health Center in Clifton Park. Born in Johnson City, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harold and Mabel (Peet) Johnson. Bob attended public schools in Endicott, N.Y. and graduated from Union-Endicott High School. He received his B.A. from Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y. Following employment at General Electric in Schenectady, Bob held several executive leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of America in N.J. and N.Y. He was also employed by Argyle Publishing Co. in New York City and was the author of many programmed instruction publications for New York state agencies. Later, he was self-employed as a writer and training consultant. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Alene (Wheeler), daughter of Ray Leech and Helen Chapin Wheeler. They have two children, Ruth Johnson James of Holland, Mich. and Stephen Johnson of Fla.; five grandchildren, Daniel, Derek, Peter and Michael James and Kristin Johnson Scaggs (Charles); and two nieces, Marsha Wheeler of Manlius, N.Y. and Christine Richardson of Baldwinsville, N.Y. Bob was predeceased by his sister, Alma Johnson Willard. Bob was a man of faith whose devotion to Christ was the hallmark of his life. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Albany, N.Y. where he had served as church administrator. Always a gentleman, he approached life and illness with grace and dignity. His wise counsel was sought by many and his generosity was well known. A memorial service will be held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Ave., Albany on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 63 Mountain View Ave., Albany, NY 12205.
