Johnson, Robert EugeneOct. 12, 1931 - Jun. 24, 2014 Robert Eugene Johnson, 82, of Venice, Fla, formerly of Princeton, IL. passed away peacefully at his home on June 24, 2014, looking forward to being in Heaven for all eternity. Bob was born on October 12, 1931 in Princeton, Illinois to Conrad and Nina Johnson. He was raised in Princeton, and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Bob then returned to Bureau County and became a successful farmer there for 60 years. He was active in the Pork Producers Association and Farm Bureau where he served as a director. Bob spent many years in the Venice area and was an avid golfer. He and his wife Marcia moved here permanently in 2012. Bob was an active Christian. He served at the First Lutheran Church in Princeton as a Sunday School Superintendent, board member and on the building committee. He later transferred his membership to the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, and then to Christ United Methodist Church in Venice where he lived his deep faith and was a dedicated member. He had a heart for the Lord and his testimony was strong, steadfast and inspirational. He is survived by his first wife, Joann, son Bill (Jackie), his daughters Linda (Mike Haile) and Karen (Jim Czuprynski), six grandchildren, Matthew and Kimberly Johnson, Katy Ritter, Rob Czuprynski, and Jennifer and Christopher Haile, three great grandchildren, Louisa and Ruby Johnson, and Noah Ritter. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Nina Johnson, and three brothers, Roland, Douglas and Lyle Johnson. Bob is also survived by his wife Marcia, four stepchildren, David (Tara), Tim (Cathy), Joel and Margaret Clement and five step-grandsons (Jonathan, Matthew, Shane, Samuel, and Noah). A Celebration of Bob's life will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, Venice on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11:00 am.
