ROBERT DANIEL "BOB" CARTER, 83Research Chemist WINTER HAVEN - Robert Daniel "Bob" Carter, 83, died at his home on June 27 of cancer. Born on October 1, 1927 in Vero Beach, FL to Ed and Kathryn Leisher Car-ter, Bob graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Agricultural Chemistry. He worked as a research chemist in the citrus processing industry for over 40 years, retiring from the Florida Department of Citrus in 1992. Bob moved to Winter Haven in 1956. He was a founding member of the Hope Presbyterian Church and was active in the church for many years. He was an organizer of Boy Scout Troop 565, sponsored by Hope Presbyterian, and served in various capacities with the Troop including a term as committee Chair from 1966 to 1968. He also served on the Administrative Council of the Lakeland Presbyterian Apartments from 1968 to 1982. Bob truly loved his family; and they have wonderful memories of the many vacations, camping trips, excursions and other activities that he led. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jennie Cannon Carter; a sister Mildred Bunnell, and a daughter Julie Downey Simmons. He is survived by his wife Dorothy C. Carter; sons Robert Carter, John Carter and Steve Downey; daughters Susan Braidwood, Carrie Foreman and Katie Heidegger; brothers Marvin and Stanley Carter; sister Joye Brooks; 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at Hope Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 30, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Bob's memory to Garden of Hope at Hope Presbyterian Church or to Cornerstone Hospice in Winter Haven.
