McDONALD Robert Clifford (Bob) 1937 - 2006 Bob courageously lost his hard-fought battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's) on Sunday, July 9. He died peacefully at home with family around him. Bob is survived by his wife Bev; his sisters, Norma (Seebinger) and Shirley (John LaRoe); his four children, Mike, Brian, Diane and Mary Lou; and his grandchildren, Bradyn and Rebecca. Bob was a true Calgary entrepreneur. Raised in Swan Lake, Manitoba, he moved to Edmonton for high school and graduated as a civil engineer from U of A in the class of 1958. He worked at Poole Construction, SRM and with his father in C. McDonald & Son before moving to Calgary and starting the life of his dreams. He took the securities course and worked as a stock broker at Moss Lawson, then moved into making the deals: McD Resources in the oil play at Redwater, Bob's Energy in gas wells at St. Paul's; Profile in numerous plays: gold in Nevada and Czechoslovakia, Abacan oil, gas wells in Texas, and finally the gold mines and mill in Montana. Bob loved history, time at the Lake, the Stamps, Flames, golf and Darth Vader. Bob believed in his dreams, was a true gentleman, and lived by his principles: "don't be part of the great grey mass" and "the cardinal sin in life is to be boring". A memorial reception will be held on Tuesday, July 18 commencing at 2:00 p.m. at his home, 245 Valley Ridge Green N.W.
