Robert Carter 82, of Dividing Creek died Thursday at home under hospice care. Born in Wildwood, NJ he was the son of the late George T. and Gwendolyn C. Cox Carter and the husband of Lillian S. Kelley Carter. He was formerly of South Vineland and resided in Dividing Creek the past 37 years. Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was a retired machinist for the Airwork Corp. of Millville. Bob enjoyed farming, fixing anything that was broke and cooking. He was a member of the Mauricetown Gunning Club, Elks Lodge and American Legion both of Millville. Surviving are his wife Lillian S. Carter, son Robert P. Carter of Cedarville, step sons, Donald H. Smith of Millville, Robert W. Smith and Richard A. Smith both of Ruffin, NC, David P. Smith of Stokesdale, NC, brother, Raymond P. Carter of FL, sisters, Betty Shelley and Yvonne Afanador both of KS, and Sylvia Melchiorre of Vineland, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother George Carter and sisters, Bessie Doucett, and Louise Buczynski. Funeral services will be held at the HOFFMAN FUNERAL HOMES 2507 High St. Port Norris on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in Dividing Creek Baptist Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.
