Robert C. LEE of Montrose, Pa.Robert C. Lee, of Montrose, died Sunday, December 9, 2001 at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose. Born May 22, 1921, in Springville, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Anna (Lathrop) Lee. He was married to Addie (MacAndrews) Lee in May of 1943. A 1943 graduate of Boston University, he was co-owner of Lee's Furniture in Montrose until retiring in the late 1980's. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an active member of the Montrose United Methodist Church. Other community involvement included being a charter member of the former Montrose Business Men's Association, now Montrose Chamber of Commerce. He was chosen as the 1998 Citizen of the Year by the Montrose Chamber of Commerce for his many years of quiet service, charter member of Montrose Area Industrial Development Agency, Inc. and active for 30 years; appointed by the county commissioners to the Founding Committee of the Susquehanna County Commercial and Industrial Development Authority where he served as Chairman for 22 years. Robert was a member of Montrose Rotary Club where he was 1990 Rotarian of the Year, President from 1989-90, Past Director, and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award since 1973. He had been an Associate Director of the Montrose Office of Community Bank & Trust. In 1978, he became a member of the Board of Directors of United Methodist Homes of Aging of the Wyoming Conference, he served as Chairman on two different occasions and presently chaired the Committee on Finance. In 1997, he became a Board member of St. Louise Manor, a personal care facility jointly owned by the Methodist Homes and Lourdes Hospital, an assignment he particularly cherished. From 1952-1956 he was part of the community group supporting the beginning of the Medical Arts Clinic and Montrose General Hospital, in 1992 becoming a member of the Ad Hoc Committee to form an organization for the purpose of acquiring Montrose General Hospital, now known as Endless Mountains Health Systems, Inc. He was the only member who was active in 1956 at its beginning. In addition to his wife, survivors include, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ronald Leonard, Brackney, Pa.; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Linda Lee, of RR Montrose, Pa.; sisters, Betty Reimel, Montrose, Pa., Jane Kahn, Clifton Springs, N.Y.; granddaughter, Darcie Lynn Lewis, Gainesville, Ga.; nieces and nephews. Services will be Saturday, December 15 at the Montrose United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends after the service in Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the Endles Mountains Health Care Foundation, 3 Grow Avenue, Montrose, Pa. 18801. Bartron Funeral Home, Inc., 74 Church St., Montrose, Pa., has been entrusted with the arrangements.
