Robert B. Harrington SPARTANBURG, SC-- Robert B. Harrington, 80, of Spartanburg, died on Tuesday, November 16, 2009, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. A native of Darlington County, he is the son of the late Earle and Martha Harrington. Robert graduated from Presbyterian College with a B.A. degree in 1956 and from Clemson University with a master's degree in 1973. He served in the Army as an MP during the Korean Conflict. In his 32-year career as a teacher and coach, he worked in Greenwood District 50 and Abbeville School Districts where he coached football, track and basketball and taught science and social studies. Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy Breard; daughter, Rebecca Blanke; and sons, Harry H. Blanke III, and Jason F. Blanke; his grandson he raised, W. Truman Brown III; and his other grandchildren, Jessica Brown, Alexander Blanke and Andrew Blanke. In addition, Robert leaves a brother, Rudolph Harrington of Columbia; and three sisters, Shirley H. Teel, Mary H. Baker and Ann H. Britt, all of Darlington. Florrie Thomason, another sister is deceased. A simple military graveside service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009, at 3:30 PM in Greenlawn Memorial Garden on Fernwood-Glendale Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Presbyterian College, 503 S. Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325, Attn: Advancement Office. Community Mortuary
