Jackson, Robert A. DELMAR Robert Andrew Jackson, age 95, died October 26, 2007. Born in Minoa, N.Y., August 29, 1912, son of Leland Henry and Frances Stocking Roberts Jackson, he graduated from Minoa High School in 1931, attended New York State College of Forestry at Syracuse University and graduated Albany Business College in 1935. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by the International Harvester Company before becoming president of Delmar Lumber & Builder's Supply, where he worked until retirement. Bob spent his retirement years perfecting the apple pie and volunteering for the American Red Cross and Meals On Wheels. He was an active member of the Capitol District Genealogical Society. His own family research went back several centuries. Bob was a 50-plus-year member of both Onesquethaw Lodge, F.& M. and Blanchard Post of the American Legion, a charter member of the Delmar Rotary Club and also served as elder and deacon of the Delmar Reformed Church. He was secretary of the Bethlehem Cemetery Association serving since 1976. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Florence Allene Bennett; granddaughter, Jessica Jackson Dismore Kumpula of Fort Mill, S.C. Three daughters and two sons survive him. Lorraine and her husband Randall Richland of Huntington, Vt., Louise and her husband Michael J. Connelly of Guilderland, Roberta and her husband Lawrence Dismore of Jacksonville, Fla., Gregory Bennett Jackson and his wife Laurie of Delmar and Kirk Roberts Jackson and Oliver Wadsworth of New York City and Bennington, Vt.; his grandchildren, Alyson McGinty Hutchins and husband Duffy of Colo., Gwyn McGinty of Colo., Tyson McGinty of Nev., Michael Connelly of S.D., Patrick Connelly of Fla., Mariette Connelly of N.J., Mackenzie Dismore of La., Leslie Jackson and Lindsay Jackson of Delmar and David Kumpula of S.C. Sincere gratitude is extended by the family to Delmar Place Assisted Living, Community Hospice, and Caring Assistance whose warmth and compassion have helped all of us. Visiting hours will be Sunday, October 28 from 2-5 p.m. in the Bennett Parlor at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Avenue, Delmar.
