Rita (Crowe) Smith longtime resident of Tewksbury; 90 NEWBURYPORT -- Rita (Crowe) Smith of Newburyport died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 31, 2011. Along with her husband the late Harry N Smith, she was a longtime resident of Tewksbury, where they raised their two children and opened their home for all to enjoy. Their spirit and love for life will stay with us always. Rita was renowned for her ever present smile, her generosity and marvelous, winning sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew her. Rita was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School and worked for many years at Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury. More recently she resided at Heritage House apartments in Newburyport where she leaves behind many great friends and wonderful memories.A much beloved family woman and dear friend to all who knew her, Rita is survived by her children, Nancy Smith and Cathy McGranachan of Georgetown, Kevin and Karen (Belcher) Smith of Dracut, Denise (Dineen) and Daniel Morrissey of Tewksbury, her grandchildren Lynn (Smith) and Shaun Murray of Park Slope Brooklyn, Laurie (Smith) and Barry Lavoie of Lowell, Alysia Morrissey of South Boston, Emily McGranachan of Georgetown and her great grandchildren Aidan and Madeline Lavoie of Lowell. Rita is also survived by her beloved sister Mildred (O'Brien) and Joseph Scaramuzzo Sr. of West Yarmouth, her cherished friend Olga Rymsha of Newburyport and many nieces and nephews who carry fond childhood memories of family parties with Aunt Rita and Uncle Harry in Tewksbury.SMITH -- In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Rita's name to Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack Street Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
