Rita J. Raymond, 94 SOUTH PORTLAND -- Rita J. Raymond, 94, of South Portland, passed away on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on Oct. 7, 1920, in Fall River, Mass., the daughter of the late Napoleon and Ledia (Belanger) Fournier. A devout Catholic, Rita was a longtime member of the Women's Council at St. John the Evangelist Church, a member of St. Bartholomew's Choir (where she sang at funerals), and a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. She was a longtime volunteer at Maine Medical Center. Rita was recognized by Maine Medical Center for her years of dedication as a volunteer. Rita had worked in retail at Porteous & Mitchell and in healthcare administration as a medical secretary. She later retired from Washington National Insurance Co. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Norman Raymond in 1979; they shared 48 years of marriage. She is survived by four children, Pauline Raymond of Cleveland, Ohio, Jeannie Raymond of California, Donald Raymond of California, Richard Raymond of Arundel; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland.
