VALATIE NY -- Rita H. Welch, 71, otherwise known as Aunt Rita, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2005. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Marie Anne LaFontaine. Rita served her country in the United States Air Force. She worked as the supervisor of the EKG department at St. Peter's Hospital for 25 years. Rita later went on to work as the director of materials management at the Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home for a number of years. She is predeceased by her brother, Matthew LaFontaine. Rita is survived by two sisters, Suzanne Place of Schenectady and Frances E. Herrington of Fla.; two brothers, Joseph LaFontaine of Fla. and Michael LaFontaine of Valatie, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family also wishes to extend a deep sense of gratitude to Donald Dunham and Greg Kiehl for their love and attention in her time of need. Interment will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery where services will be held at a later date. All are welcome. The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
