Rita Faye Smith February 20, 2011 Rita Faye Smith, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital following a long illness, with her loving family at her side. Born in Massena, she lived in Bridgeport for over 50 years. She was a dedicated homemaker whose life was her family and also having a good time with all the people who knew her. She was predeceased by her brothers, Barry and Fred Merritt. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Roy "Ron" Smith; her son, Steve (Teri) Smith; her four daughters, Deborah (William) Bryerton, Brenda Thompson, Allison (William) Kraus and Valerie Schond; her brothers, Donald (Sheila Rendon) Merritt and Richard (Barbara) Merritt; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 Rte. 31, Bridgeport. Burial will be in the spring in Oneida Lake Cemetery.
