Richard Thomas McCormack of Berkeley Heights, N.J., entered eternal life on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the age of 76. The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J., on Tuesday, May 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 16, at 9 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at Church of the Little Flower, Plainfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights, at 10 a.m. The interment will follow at St. Mary's Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung, N.J. He lived in Kenilworth, N.J., for 20 years with his wife and family and later moved with his wife, Jean, to Berkeley Heights, where he resided for 27 years. Mr. McCormack dedicated 40 years to Baxter Rubber Company; he was a devout Roman Catholic and a member of the Perpetual Prayer Group at Our Lady of the Monastery Rosary Shrine in Summit. In the early 1970s Richard served as both police commissioner and councilman in Kenilworth and coached Little League; he later ran for U.S. Congress in 1976. He was also an avid golfer and member of the Bandits at Galloping Hill Golf Club, where he achieved a two stroke handicap. Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean McCormack. He was the loving father of Kevin and his wife, Maria, of Millburn, N.J.; Richard and his wife, Kasie, of Garwood, N.J., and Barbara Curley and her husband, Stephen, of Virginia; dear brother of Therese (Ron) Dominach, Christopher (Carolyn) McCormack, John McCormack, and the late Joseph McCormack, and cherished grandfather of 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
