Richard T. "Dick" Peters, 76, Gulf Cove, Port Charlotte, died Aug. 30, 2003. He was born April 17, 1927, in Chicago and came to Charlotte County in 1989 from Crystal Lake, Ill. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an operations service manager with Allstate Insurance Co. He was a member of the IAJRC (International Association of Jazz Record Collectors), Charlotte County Jazz Society, Sarasota Music Archives, and West Coast Jazz Record Collectors. He was a member of the Gulf Cove United Methodist Church in Port Charlotte. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Inez; a daughter, Julie Ann Smith of Gulf Breeze, sons Barry A. of Moorpark, Calif., and Tracy Lee of Crystal Lake; and nine grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, with funeral services at 2 p.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, Englewood Chapel. Inurnment will be later in Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood.
