Richard Lee, "Dick" Henry, 74, Mt. Vernon, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, in Freeman East Hospital, Joplin. Dick was born on July 20, 1932, in Webb City to Guy Ellis and Leila Opal (Dawson) Henry. He lived in the Lawrence County community his entire life. Dick was a Korean Army Veteran and a self-employed brick mason. He was a body builder and during his time in the service he was named Mr. Fort Riley and in 1980 he was named Mr. Springfield in the Age-35 category. He was a Bible teacher for the Stone Bible Chapel, La Russell, for 35 years and was a member of the Prairie Flower Bible Church, Webb City. On October 8, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma, he married Patricia Ellen Chastain. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his son, Richard Lee Henry II of Mt. Vernon; his daughter, Sarah; daughter Juli Ellen DeNisco and husband, Paul, of Mt. Vernon, and their children, Michelle, Jeanette, Melissa, Clint and Meredith; daughter Joni Elaine Lingenfelter and husband, Mike, of Carthage, and their children, Mindy, Joshua and Alicia; seven great-grandchildren, Avery, Mason, Alyse, Drew, Brandon, Michael and Sage; six sisters, twins Carolyn Joyce Conner, Webb City, and Catherine Loyce Foust, Kansas City, Missouri, Grace Ann Wood, Patsy Ellen Byler, Wilma Ruth Curry, all of Webb City, and Norma Fay Henry, St. Louis; four brothers, Robert Bryce Henry, Joe Rex Henry, Thomas Edwin Henry and John Ellis Henry, all of St. Louis; 42 nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. His parents and two nephews preceded him in death. Funeral services, under the direction of Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 25, in the First Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Moore Cemetery, Stotts City. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 24, in the funeral home chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Prairie Flower Bible Church in care of the funeral home.
