DAVIS RICHARD LEE, passed away at his home in Louisville August 25, 2007. He was the youngest son of James B. and Millie Mae Davis, born in Louisville in 1937. He attended Male High School and the University of Louisville. He received his Master of Arts from the University of Connecticut. He was an operatic tenor who made his debut with the Kentucky Opera Association in 1960. He studied under the great tenor, Tito Schipa in Rome, Italy. He subsequently sang with the Goldovsky Opera, the Turnau Opera and the opera companies of Atlanta, Baltimore, Cleveland, Oberlin and Central City. He was well known for his Canio in Pagliacci, Rodolfo in La Boheme, Floristan in Fidelio and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus. In recent years he was a tenor soloist with the Messiah Trinity church. He is survived by his brother, J.B. Davis; and numerous cousins in the Louisville area. His burial will be noon Tuesday at the Veterans' Cemetery in Radcliff, KY.
