TUSCALOOSA Richard "Pops" Johnston, age 78, of Tuscaloosa, died Aug. 7, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mearon Howell Johnston and Bertie Mae Clements Johnston; his daughter, Connie Johnston Latham; his brother, Mearon Lewis Johnston; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved Patches.Survivors include his wife, Mitzi Johnston; his daughters, Sharon King (Spencer) of Tuscaloosa and LuAnne Tatum (Mike) of Selma; his son, Rick Johnston (Debbie); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his beloved pets, Maggie-Mae and Bear.Honorary pallbearers are employees of Reichhold Chemical Company and members of the Tuscaloosa Bowling Associations.
