Richard H. Bourdeau 1930 - 2012 CHICOPEE - Richard Henry Bourdeau passed away peacefully on February 23 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke surrounded by his loving family. Rich, the son of the late Albert and Cora (Vigneaux) Bourdeau was born in Chicopee, MA on September 7, 1930. A graduate of Cathedral High School, Rich served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. Rich was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Chicopee for 30 years until his retirement in 1988. Rich became a R.E. Broker in 1972 and was owner of Bourdeau Real Estate in Chicopee. Rich developed the neighborhood which overlooks the Chicopee Country Club and was a licensed general contractor, building several houses with his partners, in Chicopee, Springfield, and Chatham, MA. He was involved with Catholic Charities for many years. Rich was the winning coach of the 1969 Sandlot Champion Moose Jets. Rich enjoyed driving his 1968 Ford Mustang convertible, playing golf, and most of all, spending time with his family at their beach houses in Chatham, MA and Ft. Myers, FL. Rich lived with courage and dignity for the past 8 years with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and was an inspiration and example to his family. Rich is survived by his loving and caring wife of 56 years, Jeanne L. (Fortin) Bourdeau and their 3 children, Richard A. Bourdeau and his wife MaryKim and their children Christopher, Steven, and Kenny of Westford, MA, Diane Jendrysik and her husband Mark and their children Alex and Michelle of Chicopee, MA, and Gayle Bourdeau of Boston, MA. He also leaves his sister Lorraine Martin of Springfield, MA and brother Lawrence Bourdeau of Columbia, SC. He also leaves nieces, nephews, and many good friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by 2 sisters, Yvonne Fritsch and Janet Murphy. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all the staff at Soldiers' Home of Holyoke and Hospice Life Care for the loving care Rich received. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. in Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rich's memory to: Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater New England Chapter, P.O.
