Anderson, Rev. James Lewis LATHAM The Rev. James Lewis Anderson, 73, of Marc Place in Latham, died on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after battling a difficult illness. Born in Princeton, Minn., he was son of the late Walter R. Anderson and Gladys Thompson Anderson, and husband for 51 years of Laureen "Laurie" Eriksen Anderson. He had resided in Latham from 1996 to 2014, West Sand Lake from 1980 to 1996, Clifton Park from 1975 to 1980 and in Northern California from 1971 to 1975. Jim was a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., in 1962, where he earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy, and at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York, earned a master's of divinity in 1965. Jim worked for the New York State Legislature in the late 1970s and led the bid for New York City to hold the 1980 Olympics. Jim was an assistant professor of humanities from 1996 to 2014 at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Previously he was pastor of Calvary Chapel in West Sand Lake, and various other churches. Jim was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Latham, where he and his wife coordinated the premarital ministry of the church. He was an incredible Grandpa, truly loved spending time with his family, and even in the midst of his illness was able to, just recently, vacation with his entire family in Cape Cod, Mass., basking in the sun and wading in the ocean. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his children, Kristen (Paul) Zaloom of Watervliet, Erik (Rachel) Anderson of Grove City, Pa., and Amy (Josh) Vinehout of Latham; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Gregory, Quincy, Riese, Porter, Fisher, Arden, and brother-in-law, Phillip (Beth) Eriksen of Bemidji, Minn. Relatives and friends may call at Grace Fellowship Church, 20 Delatour Road, Watervliet, on Monday, August 4, 2014, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a service to follow at 11:30 a.m., with officiant, Dr. Rex Keener, and participant, the Rev. Doug Nelson. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie, led by the Rev. Will Babarczy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of the Rev. James Lewis Anderson to Grace Fellowship Church for the GF Youth Ministry at 20 Delatour Road, Watervliet, NY. To sign the guest book, light a candle, or for service directions, visit brycefh.com.
