Gordon L. Morrison, 83, born Jan. 12, 1927, in Goshen, Ala., to the late Sam and Myrtle Cosby Morrison passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Shoal Creek Rehab. He was an Assembly of God minister for over 60 years. He pastored churches in south Alabama and Northwest Florida until April 2003 when failing health forced him to retire, and he returned to Crestview, Fla. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 64 years, Alice Twynette Deavers Morrison. He is also survived by his only child, Patricia (Pat) and Malcom Presley of Crestview; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and three brothers.The family wishes to thank all the employees of Shoal Creek Rehab and Covenant Hospice for the wonderful care given to their husband and father. Floral arrangements will be accepted, or donations can be made to Covenant Hospice, 370 Redstone Drive, Crestview, FL 32536.A time of visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Revs. James Paul and Larry Collins officiating.
