->WATERVILLE -- Rebecca Lee Smith, 57, died unexpectedly Friday December 21, 2007 at Easter Maine Medical Center in Bangor.She was born in Waterville on April 21, 1950, the daughter of Stephen and Marion (Norman) Chapman. Rebecca graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1968, and earned her nursing degree at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, Massachusetts.Rebecca was employed by Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home in Waterville for the past seven years. Besides her work, Rebecca's life passion was her grandchildren, Aurora "Rory" Faith Bouchard and Lexi Lee Smith.She was predeceased by her father, Stephen Chapman Sr., her husband, Roger Smith Sr. and a brother, Michael Chapman. Besides her beloved grandchildren Aurora and Lexi, she is survived by her mother, Marion Chapman of Winslow, a son, Roger Smith Jr. of Waterville, her stepmother, Marlene Chapman of Benton, brothers, Stephen Chapman, Jr., and wife Katherine of Charleston, S.C., Mark Chapman and wife Gloria of Bedford, N.H., Scott Chapman and wife Elsa Rosales of Wilton, and Jon Chapman of Bangor, a sister, Deborah Chapman, and her partner Carol Cookson of Bangor, and four nephews and four nieces.A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church Street, Oakland, followed by a gathering of family and friends at 24 Marie Street in Winslow.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME, 04074.
