Rebecca Carroll Johnson, 77 PORTLAND -- Rebecca Carroll Johnson, age 77 of Williams Street, Portland died Thursday afternoon Sept. 27, 2012 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Southwest Harbor the daughter of Wesley B., and L. Evelyn Warren Carroll. She attended schools in Machias graduating from Machias High School class of 1952. She also graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Rebecca was a member of the Woodfords Congregational Church, a member of the National Association of Parlimentaritians, and a member of the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter of the DAR. She also was a warden for District 3-2 City of Portland for the past 17 years. Besides her husband of 52 years Wayne W. Johnson of Portland, she leaves three daughters, Janet and her husband Philip Thompson of Gorham, Jennifer and her husband Dave Shugars of Scarborough, Judy and her husband Rodney Walter of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Barbara Maloy of Machiasport, ME. Also survived by her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday October 2, 2012 from 5 to 8pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Funeral services will be held Wednesday October 3, 2012 at 11am at Woodfords Congregational Church, Woodford St, Portland with Rev. Carolyn Lambert, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Portland.
