Whelan, Raymond John, 76, Elder Mountain, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2006 in a ?local hospital. Mr. Whelan spent the greatest part of his professional career as a licensed optician in South Florida. After retiring he and his wife lived in Charlotte, North ?Carolina and Chattanooga to be near family. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. He was a loving husband and ?father and will be deeply missed. His ?parents, Francis and Mabel Whelan, sisters, Mary Ross, Frances and Margaret Whelan and brothers, Charles and James Whelan preceded him in death. Those left to cherish his loving memory are his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Whelan; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie and Dennis Obrikat, ?Charlotte, North Carolina, Susan and Dr. ?Michael Prostko, Chattanooga, Posie and Fred Kampe, Boynton Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Heather Shea Sullivan, Brandon Matthew Sullivan, Emma Rose Prostko; ?sisters, Irene Crabb, Palm Bay, Florida, ?Kathleen Horn, Clewiston, Florida and many furry, feathery and finny grandpets.
