Ray Boyd Smith, 86, of 1 Sulphur Springs Road, husband of the late Opal Wigington Smith, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late George and Eva Hughes Smith. Mr. Smith retired after 41 years of service with J.P. Stevens, Slater plant, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Berea First Baptist Church.He is survived by a son, Michael Ray Smith; sister, Mohe Goldsmith; granddaughter, Kristy Smith; grandson, William Smith; three great-granddaughters; and three great-grandsons.Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.The family will be at the home.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, is in charge of arrangements.
