GRAY, Ga. - Ramsey Gerald Hardin, 74, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 27, 2008. The family will gather and receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00pm, Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church in Gray, with Dr. Steve Albanese conducting the services. Burial will be at 4:30pm, at Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Appling. Mr. Hardin was born in Appling on October 29, 1933, and had lived in Gray for the past sixteen years. He was the son of the late Tom Robert Hardin, Sr. and Eugenia Lindsey Hardin. A graduate of Harlem High School. Mr. Hardin served with honor in the United States Navy for over four years and retired from Otis Elevator Company as a local representative after over thirty- seven years of dedicated service. He was also a Bailiff for the Jones County Sheriffs Department, was a volunteer for VistaCare Hospice and was a member of the Wolihin Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hardin was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Gray, where he was also a member of the Sara B. Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a brother: Tom Hardin, Jr., and a sister: Mary Kathryn Hardin. Mr. Hardin is survived by his wife of over fifty years: Elizabeth "Libby" Hardin of Gray; daughter and son-in-law: Bobbye and Jimmy Wynne of Gray; grandson: Ramsey Neal Wynne of Gray; brothers: Aris Hardin of Washington and Timmy Hardin of Appling; sisters: June Spaulding of Appling and Rose Marie McNeill of Thomson; and by several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Gray Building Fund, Post Office Box 429, Gray, Georgia 31032.
