Ralph Raymond Miiller, 85, of Goodland passed away at 2:35 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2013, in his home in Goodland. He was born to the late Raymond and Cecilia E. Lord Miiller, on October 4, l927, at Goodland. He was a 1945 graduate of Goodland High School, where he was a member of the Goodland Basketball Team. His marriage was to Letha Mae Mathew, the love of his life, on Nov. 25, l948, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington, and she survives. Mr. Miiller served proudly in the Air Force from l945 to l947. He was a Staff/SGT with the l0lst Weather Group as a meterologist. He also played basketball on the Air Force l0lst Weather Group, McCellan Field, Calif. After his discharge he started farming. A member of Sts. Peter and Paul Caltholic Church in Goodland, he had served as Lector, Usher and on the Parish Council and Cemetery Board for 15 years, Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Kentland American Legion, and was past president of the South Newton School Board for eight years, served on the board for 16 years, and 15 years on the construction board. He enjoyed bowling, I.U. Basketball and time spent on their golf cart. He farmed for 57 years, retiring in 2004. Surviving are his loving wife and three daughters: Bonnie Hanson, (husband, Tom), Cambridge, Wis., Cheryl Durham, (husband, John), Goodland, Tammy North, (husband, Gary), Bolingbrook, Ill.; one sister Velma Benner, (husband, Tom), and two brothers, Eugene Miiller, (wife, Marsha), Kentland, and James Miiller, (wife, Carol) Logansport. Also surgviving are 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marie Welsh and Shirley Miiller. Visitation will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Goodland, on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m., (CDT) with Rosary at 3:30 p.m. (CDT). Funeral mass will be at the church on Friday, May 3, at ll a.m. (CDT) with the Rev. Robert Bernotas officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goodland. Memorials may be given in his name to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Goodland.Gerts Funeral Home, Goodland, is in charge of arrangements.
